Many garden owners fill their pool or paddling pool with their own well water.
The prerequisite for unadulterated swimming fun is perfect water quality. Unfortunately, almost one third of all fountain systems have problems with water contamination. This is particularly problematic for children.
In 35% of all wells, the manganese content is too high, and in 10% the iron content is above the limit. This leads to problems when the water has to be disinfected. Unattractive discoloration and turbidity are also frequent results. In more than 50% of all samples, the pH value is outside the recommended range of 6.5 - 7.2. At a pH value of 7.8, for example, the disinfecting effect of chlorine is reduced by 50%.
Lime precipitation can occur and the water becomes milky cloudy. Undesirable algae growth is also promoted. It is therefore important to know the hygienic and chemical composition of the well water in order to take the right measures for clean swimming pool water at an early stage.
